What happens after a loved one passes away?

When a loved one passes away, a grant of probate or letter of administration is needed by the relevant individual(s) in order to have the power and authority to administer the deceased’s estate. Our lawyers have helped hundreds of clients through this process, ensuring they unlock the assets, and distribute them to the lawful beneficiaries. Please get in touch for a no-obligation discussion to see how we can help.

When a valid will is available, we would apply for a grant of probate. Where no valid will is available, we would apply for a letter of administration. In normal circumstances, an application for either would take around 4-6 weeks to complete. Whilst it is possible for individuals to apply themselves, there is a considerable amount of paperwork required, so hiring an experienced law firm will reduce the stress on yourself, and make the process generally smoother.

Very happy to recommend JRQ Legal. They dealt with the complex and demanding issues regarding foreign probate in the Singapore Court in a very responsive and understanding manner, despite numerous issues with Thai law and overseas locations.
